A little bit about Dan
How did you go from watch collector to artist?
“I was an Art Director in advertising for many years but transitioned into the technology industry in my late 20’s. While I loved my new direction, I felt like I was no longer tapping into my creative spirit and I needed an outlet to express my creativity. One day I was visiting one of my watch dealers and noticed a bucket of old watch parts and asked him what the bucket was for, he told me that it was his garbage and asked if I was interested in it. I took that bucket home and started to tinker, and eventually started making Cufflinks from these spare parts. I sold them at Holt Renfrew for a year to a great reception — they sold out quickly with each release. While I liked making these cufflinks I didn’t feel that I was challenging my creativity enough and started to fiddle some more. One thing led to another and I started making miniature motorcycles from these watch parts. I focused on perfecting the motorcycles for around five years and that led to branching off to some bigger projects. I’ve always wanted my artwork to evolve over time and I now find myself encrusting iconic imagery with watch parts, for example, gaming remotes, Nike shoes, Kaws figures, etc.” (Source)
